Melissa Franz, MSW, LCSWA

Melissa is passionate about the intersection of mental health and physical well-being. Melissa provides holistic mental health care that honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Her approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and the belief that true healing happens when individuals feel seen, heard, and supported in all areas of their lives.

Melissa has her Bachelors degree from the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities in Theatre Arts. Having never anticipated being a therapist, Melissa draws on her own experiences to provide person centered care. Melissa got her start in social services working in Vocational Rehabilitation aiding individuals with disabilities find and maintain work. Having a chronic illness herself, Melissa feels incredibly passionate about disability rights.

During her social work practicum, Melissa interned at Disability Rights and Resources continuing her education in disability justice. Following her first year internship, Melissa interned at the Counseling and Psychological Services on campus at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Melissa graduated with her Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024 and has since worked in private practice providing holistic care to a variety of individuals.

In her free time, Melissa loves to sew, crochet, garden, and participate in theatre (when she’s not cuddled up with her many animals). Melissa is also working towards becoming a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem in Mecklenburg County.
